THE HOUSE BEHIND WHAT'S NEXT

WHERE OUR WORK BEGINS

The standards have changed. The brands that lead the shift will define the industry's next era.

Why This Work Matters

The Numbers Nobody Is Talking About.

The beauty and lifestyle category is massive. The U.S. beauty market is valued at approximately $60 billion and growing, projected to reach $73 billion with a compound annual growth rate of 5%. Black consumers represent a driving force within that market, spending an estimated $7.5 billion on beauty products annually and nearly nine times more on hair care than the average consumer. Yet multicultural consumers are three times more likely to be dissatisfied with their hair care options.

This is more than a market opportunity. It is an equity and consumer health imperative. The disparity between who drives beauty consumption and who is adequately served by the industry reveals deeper gaps in representation, innovation, product development, ingredient safety, and investment. Communities that have historically been underserved by the beauty industry should not have to choose between products that work for their hair, skin, and cultural needs and products they can feel confident are safe.

Beauty equity means more than representation on a shelf or in a campaign. It means ensuring consumers have access to products that are culturally relevant, effective, transparently formulated, and safe. This includes greater accountability around the ingredients used in products marketed to diverse consumers, particularly where exposure may have implications for long-term health.

The future of beauty will not be defined simply by how much the market grows, but by who gets to shape that growth, whose needs are prioritized, and who benefits from the economic value created. The opportunity is to build a more equitable beauty ecosystem where cultural relevance, ingredient safety, consumer health, innovation, and economic representation are not afterthoughts, but fundamental to how the industry creates value.
