Why This Work Matters

The Market is Changing.

Beauty is a massive category. It is a cultural force, a consumer market, and an industry shaped by who gets seen, served, and heard. The U.S. beauty market is valued at about $60 billion and growing, projected to reach $73 billion at a 5% compound annual growth rate. Diverse consumers represent a driving force within that market, spending an estimated $7.5 billion on beauty products annually and nearly nine times more on hair care than the average consumer. Yet consumers of color are three times more likely to be dissatisfied with their options.

This is more than a market opportunity. It is an equity and consumer health imperative. The gap between who drives beauty spending and who the industry actually serves points to deeper problems: in representation, innovation, product development, and ingredient safety.

Beauty equity means more than a shelf or a campaign. It means access to products that are culturally relevant, effective, transparently formulated, and safe, with real accountability for the ingredients used in products marketed to diverse consumers.

The future of beauty won't be defined by growth alone. It will be defined by who shapes that growth, whose needs are prioritized, and who benefits from the value it creates.

This is the gap Sabel Haus was built to close.
